New Look 6097 Urban Delight

Aloha Online Ohana,
I hope your weekend is starting out beautifully.  I have just finished New Look 6097, a Project Runway pattern.  I love the combination of this pattern and this ITY knit from Gorgeous Fabrics.

The dress is an accurate representation of the pattern except for the sleeves.  I lengthened them and cut out about 3 inches from the width, so that they have a slim fit.  For the most part I am happy with how this turned out.  In the future however, I will shorten the length of the neckline so that there is not so much room in the bust.  I did have to shave 5/8" off each bodice front side seam so that the fit wasn't sloppy.  It still has a bit more room than I would prefer, but it won't stop me from wearing the dress.  I love this print!  I would love to make a cropped black jacket to go with it.  Maybe that will be my next project.  I will do a complete review at sewing.patternreview.com later today.  For now I will just share the pictures and details of the final look.

Neckline

Collar interfaced with Pro-Tricot Deluxe Fusible from FashionSewingSupply.com
Self Fabric Belt, Bodice Front Pleats, and Pockets
The toughest most time consuming part of making a dress like this is laying out the pattern pieces and cutting it out, in my opinion.  There are a lot of pieces for this dress.  I cut each piece individually so that I didn't have any distortion.

Mahalo to all of you all for sticking with me through my big hula dress project, and for the kind comments.  It's nice to be back with everyone!

This is a very striking dress! It is a fabulous use for the large scale print of this fabric. I also love the way the belt is tied with a ring.

That print is very interesting, and worked up beautifully. It looks just amazing on you. Congratulations on all of those hula dresses you made. That was quite an endeavor. Nice job, as always.

I would have cut each piece out separately too. That's why this dress is so stunning. I like the sleeve adjustment you've made too. That's made this style much sharper.
Great dress!

You always look so nice and pulled together, and this is even more so!!I love the print with this style, and thenks for including a pic of the belt-Great idea as tied belts loose their tightness with jersey.

You looking stunning in this. I think the changes you made to the sleeves were a good move - the slim sleeves echo the tapered skirt and love the drapey self fabric belt.
Also kudos to you for the hula outfits - very generous and kind spirited of you .

The fabric is very cool. How do you like the interfacings from fashionsewingsupply? I've thought about springing for them ... are there others from them that you use and like? Would you like to do a review post? Sorry, I'm being greedy for info ....

I think a black jacket with this would be quite fun!
